Sandbox Blockchain gaming Platform Animoca Brands raises $2.5M


In funding for The Sandbox blockchain gaming platform, Animoca Brands has raised $2.5 million. The Pixowl division of Animoca is restoring The Sandbox as a blockchain-enabled game, with user-generated content that players can buy and sell with real digital ownership, via  blockchain, a transparent, secure, decentralized ledger.

Animoca Brands and their Pixowl subsidiary said they raised the money to create a world of sandboxing where players can create their own virtual experiences.

As an active consumer-generated content platform, The Sandbox enables community-scale curation, rewarding owners of SAND with a community role and a potential revenue stream.

The Sandbox is preparing for its next big milestone: its marketplace launch in Q3 2019. The Sandbox will offer a high-quality, curated content selection of artist-made voxel models that can be collected in preparation for scripting their behaviors and putting them in a map to generate new gaming experiences.

The Sandbox is set to launch in the final quarter of 2019, and in the coming weeks and months more information will be revealed. Creators can be penalized if they do not comply with the rules laid down by the community and creators can post ideas to be developed and receive community funding via SAND tokens. Creators can pay artists to produce voxel models that they require. In addition, users can vote on the theme of an upcoming creation contest or sale event, or on the following features of the software.
